A pair of shoes courtesy of StyleRecognized!

I was super excited to open my parcel which just arrived from Modcloth!! I recently won a Vault Giveaway from Style Recognized, and have been waiting anxiously to receive these puppies in the mail! I couldn't believe I actually won their contest; I had just started following the Style Recognized blog the same day I entered their contest...and BAM I won! If you haven't gotten in on one of their giveaways before, you really need to check it out. I haven't seen such a generous giveaway in a while! All you have to do is fill out your basic information and include any fashion item of your choosing than can be bought online- up to $500! The winner gets their chosen item shipped to them by the lovely Su Street of Style Recognized.

Needless to say, I chose these unique and gorgeous Breathtakingly Bubbly Modcloth heels I've had my eye on for a long time. They have a retro feel, but are easily mixed with something modern. They are definitely a statement piece! So start scouring the internet for your wishlist purchase, and enter Style Recognized's next Vault Giveaway for April!

There was even an extra little surprise in the Modcloth package! A headband! How sweet :)

My shirt was bought from the lovely Alexandra from To Vogue or Bust, and the beautiful full skirt I'm wearing was from the delightful Alicia of Alicia Fashionista! These gals have fantastic taste! It was so much fun shopping their closets :)

Vancouver Fashion Week: The Runway

Here's part II of my experience at Vancouver Fashion Week:

The first five shows were by LaSalle College students and featured the designs of Melis Nur by Nur Kurban, Leigh Rose, Eunmi Kim, Jun Young Kim, and Synikal by Byron Abad. They were followed by Justin Zachary and Francesca by Pamela Ordonez. The Francesca collectino was definitely one of my favourites, and I felt like they were the most true to my style. And definitely loved the 40's hairstyles too! Lastly, my favourite collection of the evening was Mackenzie Jones featuring Danielle Cameron; if it gives you goosebumps, you know it's good!

Here are some trends I noticed on the runway:
- Peplum
- Pastels
- Coral
- Winter white

The last collection of the night was an absolutely stunning finale. It was more than just a runway show, it was a performance! The models posed and danced their way down the runway to a set of some of my favourite songs. Many people were called it the Twilight show, because the songs seemed to all be from the Twilight soundtrack. It was a very romantic performance. The detailing of the designs was beautiful and the exaggerated figures made it all seem like a beautiful fantasy. I especially loved the feather train and the tied straps on the first dress of the collection. And that last gown-wow! I recognized this one from pictures of another runway show awhile back; it's a little hard to forget those antlers... I loved the sheer straps attached to the corset: it was a lovely combination. Lastly, the men's white jacket had the look of a prince's, with it's tassled shoulders. In all-white it was very modern and classy, and definitely would make a perfect piece for a formal event.

What were your favourite collections of Vancouver Fashion Week?

Joshua Langston over at Baroque Dreams was nice enough to ask for a photo, but the photos won't be up for a little while, as his blog is currently under construction. Keep checking back for when his post on VFW is up! Lovin' those shoes!

He may have been bashful to get a photo taken, but the Lookbook photographer looked so great in the bowtie and chambray shirt we couldn't help but snap a pic!

And you can see my fabulous bestie/photographer rockin' the leather and Raybans. She picked up the shades from the Vancouver Blogger Sale a couple weekend ago! At first she didn't think they suited her, but I think they look awesome on her!

Happy Styling! xo

Thursday at Vancouver Fashion Week: What I Wore

For my first fashion show ever, I couldn't have asked for a better night! The shows were fantastic, we had good seats, and I met so many other fashion-obsessed Vancouverites! We were second row from the front, right at the front of the runway, thanks to the VFW Lookbook Team.

I've divided the night up into two posts: the first is on my outfit for the event, and the second part will be on the show itself, and my favourite collections of the night.

I chose to try something completely different for this fashionable night. In honour of the start of Spring, I thought I would experiment with some colours and styles I don't wear very often. The royal blue skirt was one of the pieces I picked up from the Vancouver Blogger Sale from blogger Cee of Coco and Vera. I loved it when I saw it, and I love it even more now that I've discovered how to style it! It flows so beautifully, and its skinny gold belt is the perfect touch.

I wanted to try something different with my hair too, and went searching on Pinterest (of course!) for some ideas. I tried a few, but apparently just because it's split into 4 steps doesn't make it easy...so I made up my own 'do and tied 3 braids into a messy bun.

During the break between shows, I met up with VFW's Marketing girl Katrina (follow her @meowgarita), who has been racing around making VFW an exceptional experience! She was sweet enough to introduce me to a bunch of fashion industry people as well as other bloggers; it was a great night for meeting new faces! And I was totally glowing when a photographer asked for a picture, and then modestly said he was shooting for a magazine called FASHION. FASHION!!! Couldn't wipe the smile off my face. We'll see which looks get picked to actually be featured in their magazine soon enough!

I'll keep you posted, you'll see my favourite looks from the show coming up soon!

Look of the Week: It's Vancouver Fashion Week!

It's officially Fashion Week in Vancouver!! This is the first time I've been a part of all the action, and it's very exciting. Last Saturday after the Blogger's Clothing Sale I was spotted by the style spies of VanFashionWeek, who featured me on their Facebook Lookbook. And as a result, I won two day passes to Fashion Week for today! I'm so ridiculously excited and actually nervous for tonight. I've never been to a fashion show before, and I've been planning my outfit all week! I'll post photos of the event as soon as I can.

Are any of you attending Fashion Week events in Vancouver this year?
