Vancouver Fashion Week FW2015: Day 4

Oh man, the runway shows continued to surprise and delight all the way through Day 4 of Vancouver Fashion Week! I now have some new favourite designers, after seeing the collections of Narumi, Pouneh Askarian, and Paola Gamero.

I was actually surprised with myself, because I was really fascinated by Narumi's collection, even though its minimalist designs don't fit my usual style. I couldn't get enough of it! The 23 year old Peruvian designer used fibres like alpaca to create beautifully chic ponchos, capes, and dresses. The designs are simple in colour and cut, but they fit fabulously and had the perfect flow to them when the models walked. I would want every one of them, especially the poncho pictured below, to wear all winter long!

Pouneh Askarian's collection was perfection, right down to the accessories. Lace and embellished headpieces were such a beautiful touch, and fit perfectly with the ultra-feminine full midi skirts and luxurious fabrics. I'm glad to see the midi skirt will be sticking around for another season, because they really are great on every figure. Same with the 50's-style coat you'll see below. Such a great coat to have in your wardobe for special occasions and its loose fit makes it so versatile.

Ah Paola Gamero. Every gown in this collection was breathtaking! The gowns were paired with beautifully coiffed victory rolls and retro-inspired makeup. My favourite of all the designs was a marsala-coloured plunge gown with sheer sleeves. Utter perfection: the detail was exquisite! You'll see another one of Paola Gamero's gowns in the video below. The delicate ostrich feathers danced along the hemline of the dress as the model walked the runway, and the plunging neckline was truly gorgeous and dramatic!

Thanks to Kuna Photography & Norm Lee Photography for the runway shots!

My outfit for day 4 of Vancouver Fashion Week incorporated my Value Village thrifted leopard pants first seen here, and my newly purchased (and now favourite) cape blazer from Lavish Alice. This white cape blazer is going to be the perfect summer jacket. I was feelin' pretty edgy with this outfit, so I thought Nobis & Grey's snake ear cuff would be the perfect accessory!

I always love seeing what Aurora Chan of Style By Fire is wearing front row!

#STBC: Shop the Blogger Closet Sale

This Sunday, March 29th from 11am - 3pm I'll be selling off my clothes with 9 other Vancouver style bloggers at the Shop the Blogger Closet Sale, hosted by Stephanie Trembath of MINIMAL-ST.ME. Now believe me, it's usually pretty hard for me to part with my clothes, but the closet just won't allow for more space, so I've bundled together 9 bags of clothing and shoes that will be up for sale at the event.

And because fashion events are always also social affairs, there will also be a bake sale, photobooth, and pop-up shop featuring Vancouver Candle Company and I See Noise Prints. Happy Water has kindly offered to keep us hydrated during the sale, and Daily Secret is also sponsoring the event! Plus, of course, you have a chance to meet all 10 of us bloggers in person, chat about personal style, and shop our closets!

Thanks so much to Frontier Luxury Flooring, who are sponsoring our event by offering their amazing space to showcase our clothes!

Partial proceeds will be donated to

Don't forget to bring cash along with you, as the event is cash only!

See you all there, and happy styling! xo

Beauty Haul Video: e.l.f. Cosmetics

Many of you know that I've become quite a beauty buff over the last year (don't worry though, my outfit posts aren't going away!). So I was insanely excited when I found out that London Drugs would be carrying e.l.f. Cosmetics products in their stores now!

This is a big cult favourite in the beauty community for 2 obvious reasons:

         1) most of their products retail for an awesomely low $3.99
         2) they have these random cool products like lip exfoliators and eyeliner sealers that you can't help but want to try out!

I had the chance to do a beauty haul video with London Drugs Cosmetics to take some of the e.l.f. Cosmetics products for a spin, so check out the video below and find out what my first impressions were!

Vancouver Fashion Week FW2015: Day 2

The first day of shows for the Fall/Winter 2015 season of Vancouver Fashion Week featured some of my favourite designers, so needless to say, I was pretty excited! All having walked the Vancouver runway before, Grandi's Atelier, Alex S. Yu, and Theresa Chen showcased truly fantastic collections.

I was in a wonderland of plaid when Grandi's collection hit the runway: a myriad of Scottish-inspired designs that were fitted to perfection (as Grandi's pieces always are). If you haven't read my Style Blindspot Series on Style By Fire yet, you'll understand why I am so enamoured by plaid once you do. Plaid, leather, and faux fur all complement each other so well, and for me personally, really embody fall/winter fashion.

I actually had the opportunity to meet Theresa Chen during the week, and I had such a fan girl moment! I've been watching Theresa's runway shows for years now, loving every single one of them, so it was such a delight to find out she's actually followed Vancouver Vogue since I first reviewed one of her collections! Wow. And of course, this collection did not disappoint. Her signature Parisian flair was ever so clear in each and every design. You'll see in the runway photo below one of her gorgeous capes in (of course) my favourite colour combination of red and black. Get in my closet now, please, pretty cape! <3

And finally, Alex S. Yu's collection was definitely one I was looking forward to on Day 1: at the end of every day of runway shows, it's always great to end of with something really fun! Alex Yu's collection was just that. Fun, flirty colours, prints, textures, and accessories (right down to the shoes!) make this collection a must-see. And while it might seem like the pieces are overwhelming at first, by picking out a shirt here or a skirt there, you could definitely weave these designs into your outfits and add some real flair to your style!

You can watch the video below to get a recap of my week at VFW:

Thanks to Kuna Photography for the runway photos!

As for my outfit? I thought it'd be fun to go full-out retro. I've been wanting to add more pastels to my spring wardrobe, so I picked up a few pieces from Forever 21 that I think will be great to mix and match during the season.

Vancouver Fashion Week FW 2015: Opening Gala

The most highly anticipated fashion event in Vancouver is back again for a 25th season! The opening gala of Vancouver Fashion Week is an opportunity to get a sneak peek at 1 look from each designer's collection: the energy under the tent is always the most intense on this first night, and you can't help but get wrapped up in it!

I was even more excited for the rest of the week after seeing the amazing designs from Kate's CoutureGrandi's AtelierNoe BernacelliNadia + Zehra hit the runway.

Such an event called for an extra special outfit, and this dress from Asos I just had to order. I really love how popular scuba material has become; it creates such awesome volume, and in this case it just makes the peplum even more dramatic!

This week during fashion week, I'm working on a video that will cover my experiences runway-side and backstage, rather than just shooting my usual blog images. I can't wait to share it with you!

ThirdLove Lingerie: Everyday Parisian-Style Luxury

I've always admired Parisian style: the way the women dress simple and elegant. Effortlessly chic is their middle name. Even on a casual Sunday afternoon, they are perfectly put together. Sexy but understated, like a lace bra peeking from a minimalist blouse.

I wanted to re-create this style, and thanks to ThirdLove, I'm very happy with the results! I strolled the streets of Granville Island in what is definitely one of my more casual outfits, but all the while felt extra chic thanks to a little something lacy underneath....

ThirdLove is a lingerie brand that is not only considered luxurious and afforable, but it prides itself on a 100% fit guarantee- and for good reason. Their revolutionary iPhone app will pinpoint your perfect bra size with just two quick, private snapshots. Too good to be true? I gave it a test run, and let me tell you, I was very impressed! I've been sized professionally before, and the app managed to match my size exactly. Oh, and ever heard of half sizes for bras? Yes, they have those too. Seriously this is the holy grail of bra sizing. And when it arrived in the mail? It fit absolutely perfectly (not to mention it looked fabulous)!

I decided to style my Sunday-chic outfit with a casual linen blouse from Old Navy, and infused some of that Parisian style inspiration by wearing my brand new ThirdLove Lace Balconette 2.0 bra underneath. Just a teeny bit of lace detailing and the small bow peeked out.
