The Comfortable, Longwear Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours from Rimmel

I know glosses and metallics have taken the reigns big time this year, but I'm still a matte lipstick lover at heart (and likely always will be). When I heard Rimmel London was coming out with a new collection of longwear Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours, I was dying to try them. Especially in the fall, I love wearing deeper, vampy matte lipstick shades, but I've still been searching for a formula that really stays in place. As it happens, Rimmel is promising just that: a formula that is kiss-proof, waterproof, touch-proof, and lasts up to 12 hours of wear. It obviously isn't entirely immune to eating an entire messy burger, but I can attest to its longevity compared to other matte lipstick competitors! If you want your lipstick to stay in place, these should be in your arsenal.

Rimmel recommends you only apply one coat to fill your lips, and don't press your lips together until dry. I kind of scoffed at this at first, but discovered pretty quickly that their advice was definitely sound. I found to get the best, smoothest and most even application, you should apply to either top or bottom lip and completely finish applying before moving onto the other lip. Usually I sort of apply all over, smush my lips together, and then continue applying to both top and bottom, but that really isn't the best way to do it here. Especially since the formula dries quite quickly.

One thing I really appreciated with the darker shades was the shape of the applicator. The applicator has somewhat rigid edges that make lining the lips a whole lot easier than most doe foot applicators. I also found the formula to be extremely comfortable on the lips once it dries down, and they're all extremely pigmented. You all know I'm a huge fan of NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams, and I've got to say, these Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours give them a run for their money.

Scroll down below to take a peek at all 14 shades (including my personal favourite, Plum This Show). PS. I apologize for the slight change in lighting among some of the photos - fall is clearly here, because daylight is disappearing on me super fast in the evenings when I'm shooting now. Time for a ring light, Santa!

Latte To Go (shop it here)

Moca (shop it here)

Be My Baby (shop it here)

This was my favourite neutral-y shade of the bunch. I liked the light hint of pink here.

Fire Starter (shop it here)

If you know me, you know I always gravitate to the red lipstick in any collection. This one is a beautiful shade - rich and bright.

Rose & Shine (shop it here)

Pink Blink (shop it here)

Blush (shop it here)

Pink Bliss (shop it here)

Shadow (shop it here)

I thought I should note this one is definitely much more blue than it appears in the tube. I thought it would be a deep charcoal-y grey, but it has some serious blue undertones. Just keep in mind!

Pitch Black (shop it here)

I liked this black lip colour more than I thought I would! Wear it for Halloween, or anytime you're ready to go extra bold.

Blue Iris (shop it here)

I'm oddly drawn to this deep blue shade, although I have no idea when I'll have the opportunity to wear it!

Heartbeat (shop it here)

Plum This Show (shop it here)

Definitely my favourite of the bunch. I love a good wine colour, and this one is spot-on.

Midnight (shop it here)

Looking to find these in your local drugstore? I just spotted the display at my local London Drugs yesterday, so check them out there if you want to see the lip colours in person!

Happy Styling! xo

  1. This pink lip gloss is very cute. But black is so bold and not for general gathering and parties. Yeah you can wear if you are model.
