Vancouver Fashion Week F/W 2014: Day 1

I was more excited than ever for the shows this season after seeing the Vancouver Fashion Week Opening Gala's sneak peek, and Day 1 did not disappoint! The designs of Green Embassy, Nina Tan, Pitour, Shelley Klassen, and Gabriel Lage were highlights of the night, but all were incredibly diverse and and a feast for the eyes. Gabriel Lage's collection of awe-inspiring beaded gowns was a truly beautiful way to end the evening, leaving us all to dream of wearing something so breathtakingly elegant one day. I'd say Gatsby-esque beading is still all the rage for the coming season (yes!).

I also went backstage with London Drugs Cosmetics before the shows to get the scoop on the latest hair and beauty trends, straight from Beauty Director Yasmin Morshedian. Heads up, smokey eyes and red vampire lips are big trends to watch for, as well as graphic liner (which is my go-to on a daily basis). Check out our Day 1 of Vancouver Fashion Week which includes a backstage make-up how-to on the models of Nina Tan Design:

Look of the Week: Pretty Plaid for Blogger Brunch

Nothing piques my interest quite like a blogger get-together, complete with tasty eats and everyone in their best dressed! Rosalia of the Vancouver fashion blog Style Love organized a lovely Saturday brunch, with other fashionable ladies Tina of Initialed, Bailey of AKA Bailey, and Amy of Eye Shadow Addict at Twisted Fork in the heart of downtown Vancouver. If you're looking for a new foodie place to try, definitely check out them out on Granville St.: great food, cool decor, and awesome staff.

We talked everything from jobs to make-up (emphasis on the make-up), and I even got some cool tips to try. Now I need pick myself up some Urban Decay make-up setting spray and MAC Omega eyeshadow for contouring the next time I'm out. And did you know that you can return make-up to Sephora? Fun fact! That's awesome for someone like me who has trouble finding a foundation that isn't orange... I'd say that made this brunch a fun and enlightening day!
