The Check Bomber Jacket 2 Ways

Who doesn't love a versatile piece of clothing? If you invest in something, after all, you want to be able to get lots of use out of it, right?

I spotted this check bomber jacket at Simons a few months back, and while $80 seemed a bit steep a price, I knew I needed a new light jacket that could take me from fall to spring, and from work to weekend. While the bomber style of this jacket is on the more casual side, the check print actually gives it a more polished look. I think the combination is what makes it a great piece for both your casual weekend and more refined office looks! So if you're looking to add a versatile jacket to your wardrobe, this style is definitely a good choice. I've linked up some similar ones at the bottom of this post, and you can check out both my casual and business-appropriate looks with this bomber jacket below!

Two Trends to Try: Mustard Yellow & All-Over Check

If there's one colour I really latched on to this season, it's mustard yellow. Yes - you read that right: mustard yellow! I know, I know, it's not everyone's favourite colour, but I think it's totally underrated.

I picked up this cute mustard yellow knit bardot top from SheIn (it's only $12!!), and it was just the start of my mustard yellow obsession...I've since bought two more tops in this fun colour!

The best part - this trending colour also pairs really with another current trend: the check suit. I picked up this one at H&M a little while back (I've linked a very similar one below). It's always great when a trend is actually wearable for day-to-day. I've been getting tons of wear out of this suit for business meetings!

To kick things up a notch outside of the 9-to-5 though, I styled the check suit with these....perfectly matching wedges! So this is the craziest thing, but I actually thrifted these heels years and years ago from Salvation Army...and they just happen to be an exact match for this H&M suit! Right down to the brown/yellow check on them! Insane, right? I think the super matchy-matchy-ness of the blazer, pants and shoes gives the outfit a very haute couture look. Great for a fashion week appearance, for instance. On a regular office day, I'd just switch out the matchy heels for something in basic grey.

So what do you think...would you ever give mustard yellow a try?

Best Cleansing Products

I don't always look forward to my nightly cleansing routine because, well, I'm lazy....but I will say that the right collection of cleansing products sure does make it a whole lot easier. It's taken me quite a few years to find my ideal cleansing routine, so I thought it would be a good time to finally share the items I've curated over the years - my absolute cleansing favourites!

This is super handy to have in your bathroom vanity, as a backup for when your regular makeup remover runs out - since it doesn't need anything but water to work! Recently, I only realized I'd run out of my fave Bioderma micellar solution at night when I went to take my makeup off. No time to run to the drugstore for more! So I ended up reaching for my Jane Iredale Magic Mitt, and found it actually worked quite well. I always wear waterproof liner though, which was a little harder to remove, but in the end it even managed to completely remove that. All I had to do was wet the mit and swipe across my face!

The only reason I wouldn't use this every day is that it takes some time to try and clean the mitt afterwards with soap and water - but again, I think that's because I was wearing that waterproof liner. The rest of my makeup - foundation, brows, and mascara came off quite easily.

You can pick one up for yourself from BeautySense.ca! And the next time you run out of your tried-and-true makeup remover, you'll thank me.

This is my all. time. favourite. makeup remover. Enough said. I have honestly been using this stuff for years now, and it really is the best. It gets all of my makeup off so easily - even my waterproof liner. And the formula is so gentle on my skin too. I love that it's a non-rinse formula too, so if I'm feeling really lazy, I don't need to rinse (although I usually still use a cleanser afterwards). If you have breakout-prone skin, I also recommend the Sebium formula - BeautySense.ca has both formulas in full and travel sizes!

I fell in love with this cleanser the second I smelled it! Fresh lavender...so heavenly! Lavendar is my favourite scent, and this cleanser is enriched with lavendar essential oil. I also LOVE that this cleanser has glycolic acid in it, which has exfoliating properties. The formula is made with an optimal pH of 4.5, so it won't irritate the skin, and won't neutralize the action of the glycolic acid. You also only need a very small amount of product to really get a lather going, which is of course a plus.

I use this cleanser on a daily basis in the evening after I've removed my makeup. I go to bed with clean skin and smelling great! The lavender scent is an added bonus when going to sleep, as lavender is also known for its calming properties.

A couple times a week, I like to use an exfoliating scrub in place of my usual cleanser. This Clinique 7-Day Scrub Cream sloughs off dead skin without being too harsh. And the creamy texture also feels so good on the skin.

Fun fact: this scrub is made of 100% vegan ingredients, is allergy tested, dermatologist developed, and free of fragrance, mineral oil, alcohol, SLS, talc, silicone, and gluten!

And voila: clean and clear skin! Now I'm curious...what's your all-time-favourite cleansing product?
