Jump into Spring with a Floral Jumpsuit!

Jumpsuits have basically become my favourite fashion item. You've also seen me wear there here and here recently. Why? Because they're seriously comfy and so easy to style. I'd rather wear a jumpsuit over a dress any day. I just feel so much more agile in them. Especially like jumpsuits with long pant legs, like this SheIn floral jumpsuit with palazzo pants. The long palazzo pants mean I can wear a lower heel without it being noticed, because really, all you see is the toe peeping out.

Now this particularly jumpsuit, in my opinion, would look fantastic on someone with a smaller chest...and without the bralette. But I felt more comfortable with the bralette underneath, as the plunging neckline is just that: one hell of a plunging neckline. It's always good to have a couple of cute bralettes in your wardrobe to style with items like this.

Of course, the key to this being a spring outfit is the all-over floral print! Revolutionary for spring, I know, but hey if it ain't broke... Just keep it light with the accessories, since the floral print is pretty busy. I chose this simple kn I've linked to a few more floral jumpsuits below as well. I seriously want all of them!! And the one I'm wearing? For $37, it's a no-brainer! I've also shared a similar coat to the one I'm wearing, because it's such a pretty statement piece to add to any of your spring outfits.

The Best Primer & Foundation for Pale Skin

My journey to find the perfect primer and foundation has not been easy, nor short. It's pretty much taken me 14 years and a whole lot of hit and miss. But I think I can finally say I've found the right match! And if you're a shade of ghostly pale like I am, maybe you'll find this info helpful too.

First up is the new Origins Original Skin Pore Perfecting Cooling Primer. This stuff really is like no other primer I've ever used. It comes in a unique form, as far as primers go. Instead of a regular pump, this formula is actually aerosol. What comes out, is a frothy sort of mousse...with a nice cool feeling! There's also a very slight tint to the mousse, which I'll admit did have me a bit worried at first. Tinted skincare doesn't usually go over well with pale skin.

As you apply the primer to your face, you can hear the small fizzling sounds of the mousse, and you can actually feel the coolness as it's applied over the skin! I can imagine this primer will be even more useful during the summer months when any extra bit of cooling is appreciated. What really surprised me though, was that the 'tintedness' of the primer wasn't an issue at all! It actually had just the right amount of sheerness to smooth over redness, without looking orange. Talk about perfect. The formula also beautifully smoothed over my blackheads and pores, making them noticeably less visible.

Now onto foundation. I finally found a (very pricey) perfect match. Until recently, I had been wearing Kat Von D's Lock-It Foundation in _________, and while I thought it was a good match (and had a couple of Sephora staff Color IQ match me to it), I realized on camera that it just wasn't quite right. It was still coming off a bit too dark. So I went straight to YouTube like any good beauty junkie, and ended up taking a recommendation from Arna Alayne. She swatched the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation in Ivoire 090 N and it looked promising. So I popped over to Sephora and checked it out. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't loving the $60 price tag, but when you're this desperate, you'll pretty much pay anything for the right foundation shade.

Thank god, it ended up being an absolute perfect match!! Absolutely no orange tinge, and the coverage was good. This is seriously the lightest foundation shade I've had the pleasure of trying and I'm oh-so-happy with it. My only issue at first, was I wasn't loving how it mixed with my previous silicon-like primer. But once I switched to my Origins Original Skin Primer, it was aaaaall good! A little added bonus? The SPF 15. It's not much, but I always appreciate a bit of SPF in my skincare if I can get it (for obvious reasons...).

70's & 90's Comeback Trends to Try

I'm not usually one for bringing back trends unless they're from the 60's or earlier...but today, I make two exceptions to that rule.

I've become pretty fond of the cabbie hat trend - a throwback to the 90's, and I'll admit, I had a few of them back in high school. I like how this version has more texture to it compared to the plain ones I had back then: metal buttons, braided rope, and faux leather. I've been wearing mine a lot lately. With winter behind us for the most part, I don't want to wear toques and winter hats anymore, but on windy days, it's still pretty cold. This cabbie hat has been a good compromise to keep my ears warm during the in-between season.

Suede skirts, first big in the 70's, have also now made a comeback. These have been back in for a while now, but it wasn't until I saw this one at Value Village that I thought I'd give it a try. As I said - winter is finally dwindling, so I've been more willing to wear skirts without tights again. Not without boots...but hey, I call it progress. A tan suede skirt is easier to style than you might think, too. I know it may not seem like the easiest colour to match, but it looks great with all-black, or would look equally good with wine.

An extra styling tip: I like to layer my gold Nobis & Grey bangles over top of my turtleneck sleeves. It makes them really pop!

What do you think? Would you give one of these trends a try too?

St. Patrick's Day Style

Red and green have always been my favourite colours. And with Valentine's and St. Patrick's Day practically back-to-back, I'm a pretty happy camper when it comes to outfit styling this time of year.

I've had this green plaid dress for a few years now, and it's still one of my favourites. It's the perfect way to wear some green on St. Patrick's Day, without feeling like you're doing a super cheesy St. Paddy's outfit. But I suppose the giant bow is a bit cheesy...but cheesy cute right?? If you're looking to snatch up this dress, you better do it quick - according to Chicwish's website, there's only two left!! The best part? The fabric is so nice and thick, that I don't need to wear a jacket on top.

The only issue with having your favourite colours being both green and red, is that I often run the risk of wearing 'Christmas colours'. But sometimes I just say "the hell with it" and do it anyways! This little red purse just pops so nicely against the dark green tartan. And I think that's what helps keep this outfit from looking too Christmasy - dark green seems to be less problematic than bright green in that respect.

Anyhow, I hope you all have a festive St. Patrick's Day, decked out in your best green attire!
