Vancouver Fashion Week: Day 4

This is your VFW Runway Correspondent here again! By this point in the week, I started to feel like I was really getting the hang of this reporting thing. How often do you get to meet the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and ask him about fashion?

Remember what I was saying about my obsession with studs in my last post? I wasn't kidding. There's another studded piece I thrifted a while ago: a mint moto jacket from Zara. I paired it with my mom's tiered leather skirt (that she also wore in her 20's)! I love mixing mint with black, and seeing as how leather is making a big comeback, I thought this skirt would be appropriate. Add a little pop of bright pink colour on my lips and I was set to go!

An amazing array of prints walked down the runway. I was particularily in awe over Tramp In Disguise's collection 'Lost City' and Xsenia & Olya. Sini's 'Lost City' collection was inspired by Atlantis, while Xsenia & Olya's prints were based on liquid smoke. Both beautifully unique, the prints are fresh, colourful, and I would wear them in a second!

Day 4 was Korea Day at fashion week, and we got a rare look into the fashion and culture of a Korean wedding ceremony. The outfits were extremely intricate and full of bright primary colours. A tea ceremony was offered as well to give everyone a look into Korean culture. (And this girl loves tea!)

Vancouver Fashion Week: Day 3

Day 3 at Vancouver Fashion Week brought an exciting line up of designers and loads more interviews to keep me on my toes! (Oh and my toes were very sore all ready!) The night started out with a dreamlike performance by Charmed, then soon went from sweet to sexy with swimsuits by Heiress Swimwear and Qispi Kay Beachwear. To close the show, PINGHE's polished and sophistocated collection brought the crowd to their knees. The most wearable collection of the night goes to Mia Melon, whose cute and casual collection looked like it would fit right into my closet! Well, maybe if I had room...

I've been slightly obsessing over studs, spikes, and embellished shoulders this season: they give a touch look that screams glam at the same time. Deep red makeup is a winning hue this season, and when paired with touch metal, the look becomes very dark and vampy. This definitely strays from my normal style, but I loved wearing it! My stud obsession also lead me to track down VFW's producer Justin Voitic, whose blazer was designed with studded back detailing for the event. You can see it below!

VFW sponsor, Smashbox, doing touchups for guests and offering a CRAZY deal on cosmetics.

The last design of the collection Charmed by Trish Connolly. A stunning white gown with a removable lower half; perfect for a bride going from ceremony to reception!

Clothing: Goldie London by Michelle Goldie
Hats: Hive Mind Millinery by Dominique

What a perfectly paired hat for this outfit. Just the right amount of tough and pretty.

My favourite outfit and hat for both designers! A great combination of retro vibes and class, all in one look. I'm so glad to see more lavender on the runway for Spring, too.

After the runway show, catching up with Dominique of Hive Mind Millinery. Yes folks, that's an actual skull on her head! How unique is that??

Justin Voitic, producer of VFW and CEO of The FIVE Agency wearing a unique studded blazer. He's been wearing the eye-catching designs of DW Fashion all week!

Mia Melon by Mandy Morgan shows a casually beautiful collection that I would wear in a second!

Me with the amazing South African designer Gert-Johan Coeztee! We interviewed him on Day 1, but I forgot to grab a picture with him; I wanted to make sure you saw his awesome styling.

With the team! Katrina of VFW and Vancouver Vogue's photographer

I have been eyeing this bathing suit...I want it!! Qispi Kay Beachwear by Sandra Jazmin Higueras had a host of sexy designs, but this one definitely won my heart. I had an interview with Sandra after the show, and she says her designs are meant to fix the problems lots of women have when buying swimsuits. All her pieces are sold separately and sizes are consistent across all her collections for easy fittings, and her patterns are easy to mix and match as well.

Speaking of sexy...I don't think I would have the guts to wear these in public, but wow do they ever look amazing. All of Jessica L Huang's pieces were figure-hugging and seductive, and made in the season's hottest trend: leather.
