Diner en Blanc 2015

I was one of the many thousands of people in Vancouver on the waitlist for the magical event that is Diner en Blanc this year, and I was pretty bummed when for the second year, I didn't make it to registration. I was mostly bummed because I had this gorgeous dress from Choies which I was hoping to have a reason to wear...

Thanks to the wonderful people at Mogo Money, they swooped in and saved the day, offering me and my mister a spot at the hotly anticipated event. We of course got to shopping right away for everything from a table and napkins to an all-white ensemble for the gentleman. We ended up thrifting his shirt and belt from Value Village and finding his pants and shoes from Winners, with the whole look totalling only $87! Plus, in case your wondering if those white pants are ever going to get worn again, I have plans to turn them into a pair of bf jeans ;)

On arrival, we set up our white table scape at the secret location - Canada Place - where Mogo welcomed us with pearly white balloons for the dinner celebration. As we sat there, drinking our wine and eating our home-made pesto pasta dish, I was in complete heaven listening to Ballad du Paris from Midnight in Paris as the sun went down. Once the sparklers came out, the night became even more magical!

The night made for some amazing people watching as well; it's funny that even with everyone in all-white, there such an incredible variety of fashions and individual styles to be seen, from extravagant headpieces to piled-on statement jewellery. And the Diner en Blanc performers were a sight to be seen too. Overall, just an awesome first time experience, thanks Mogo for bringing us along!

Chapters Indigo Christmas in August Preview

I had just started to wrap my head around the fact that fall is around the corner...and now Chapters has me looking forward to Christmas already!

Chapters Indigo hosted their Christmas preview last week, giving us a sneak peek at all the plaid and gilded goodies we can expect to see in stores closer to the holiday season. All set up in the penthouse suite of the Loden Hotel in Vancouver, Chapters turned it into a winter wonderland (even in the crazy summer heat we're feeling).

I had a feeling their gilded cocktail glasses would make a comeback year, and they didn't disappoint! They'll make the perfect addition to any chic bar cart and will be perfect for entertaining during the holiday season. Speaking of entertaining, they're launching the sweetest collection of tea pots and tea mugs, perfect for cozying up with tea with friends, or to take on the go. This tea lover is going to have a very long wishlist!

The food/drink section of Chapters has always been a favourite of mine, and from what we saw, this season will bring some fun new favourites that I'll just have to try. Bacon caramels and eggnog pancake mix, yes please!

And then of course, there's the winter fashion collection...and I can't get enough of it! There's a set of beautiful super soft plaid scarves that I am now obsessing over, and a camel wrap cape that would be oh-so-chic over cozy winter sweaters. Plus, the matching socks and hot water bottle covers are just way too cute.

Some of these products will be in Chapters Indigo stores as soon as October 5th, so keep your eyes peeled!

These gilded glasses are the perfect addition to any holiday party...and a must-have for my bar cart!

Bacon caramels? I'll take 10!

Because I can never get enough plaid! Already putting that plaid pillow on my décor wishlist

This comfy, cozy poncho comes in red, black and camel - the latter is my favourite! And super soft <3

For those cold days cuddled up in bed, this sweater water bottle is the cutest!

Thrift Shop Day with Value Village

This Monday, August 17th was Thrift Shop Day - a chance for us to celebrate the awesome sustainable shopping experience of thrifting! And you know I'm a thrifting fanatic...

We started off our Thrift Shop Day celebrations with a little pampering at a special eco-friendly beauty salon in downtown Vancouver, E-Style Beauty Spa. They use natural and health conscious products, which made for the perfect spot to get pampered with Value Village and Eco Fashion Week

Value Village also created a very special art installation at Robson Square in Vancouver to for the special day, showing passer-by what 280 pounds of clothing looks like. Why 280 pounds? That's the average amount of clothing each family throws away each year. But Value Village is hoping to inspire people to break that statistic! You can help save all those pounds of clothing from going to our landfills by donating them to your local Value Village and shopping thrift.

If you've never been thrifting before, it can definitely be a little overwhelming at first; there is a LOT of clothing and searching to be done, but when you find that perfect find, it's all worth it! You'll love the treasure hunt. Plus, you'll know you're supporting local charities and protecting the environment by donating and buying donated goods!

Novus TV & BC Living reporter Natalie Langston & Eco Fashion Week founder Myriam LaRoche recording some Periscope coverage of the art installation

Celebrating in my thrifted outfit:

Dress - Zara (thrifted), Shoes - Mei Xi (thrifted), Purse - (thrifted)

And of course, it wouldn't be a full thrifting celebration without some Value Village goodies! Carefully curated in VV red, I am positively in love with their reusable shopping bags and heart sunnies <3 Also, candle lovers take note: this candle from Rewined is made from a recycled wine bottle! They're cut by hand and filled with premium natural soy wax, and given the most wonderful scent- this one in mimosa (how sweet!). This is honesty one of the best smelling candles I own- now I want to try their champagne scented candle too! In the spirit of reusing, you can also recycle the candle when it's all done.

Good luck with your thrifting adventures,

Happy Styling! xo
