I'm already breaking in my thrifted Aldo pumps as you can see. Like my cobalt heels, they really are quite high- going to take some getting used to. I couldn't help but forgo the colour for this shoot and go back to my beloved classic black and white. I've been meaning to style this Zara skirt for a long time, and have finally found the best way to wear this midi skirt is with a loose-fitting shirt that can drape over the belted waist. By the way, if you're looking for some great statement pieces like my cameo necklace, make sure you don't miss the Richmond Night Market this summer. Jewelry sells for on average $8 a piece for a necklace like mine. I got a gorgeous Eiffel Tower necklace from there as well (that I wore here), and I love it to death!
We finished up our shoot literally just as the fattest raindrops started falling. I suppose we were lucky it held out that long!

UFV Absolute Style Grad Fashion Show 2012
I headed out to Abbotsford on Wednesday to attend the University of the Fraser Valley's Absolute Style 2012 grad fashion show. My photographer's sister is in the first year of their Fashion Design program and was helping behind the scenes. They seriously put on a fantastic show! It's amazing what these students have created after 2 years of schooling! Even the venue itself was very well put together, very professional. The show featured several different aspects of fashion design such as machine weaving, surface design, etc, as well as the collections for each individual graduate student.
My favourites from the design techniques were in the Surface Designs sections. I can honestly say that there were a few pieces that I would have purchased in an instant. Two of the designs in particular were beautiful bright and flowing chiffon-type pieces that were incredibly stunning. I especially loved the dark contrasting cinched waists on both dresses. They had a very exotic feel to them.
Of the collections featured, my favourites were by Honey Han, Be Admired Clothing, Saut de l'ange designs, and AB Clothing. Honey Han's collection was very classy and proper- and in lovely fresh pastels! The skirt suit outfits were Chanel-esque with their tweed fabric and feminine details. The crystal headbands were a perfect touch. Be Admired Clothing had my heart with the cropped bustier/bralette. So adorably retro! The patterns were bold and bright (perfect for summer) and this top would be so refreshing on a hot day. I may be making one myself as a DIY project if I can! Saut de l'ange's collection was ballerina inspired to say the least. Models in beautiful tutus of tulle bounced down the runway in pointe shoes gracefully. One key thing to note: the bun. If you haven't already, it's time to find a DIY video and do your own sock bun. They are definitely a popular polished look this season. AB Clothing brought some more retro feel to the runway with some 40's inspired pieces. My favourite was definitely the sparkling flapper dress! I have a flapper dress from H&M, but I love the glitzy feel of this one. The rest of the collection was just as glam, with lace and long dramatic gowns.
Overall, UFV put on a very fashionable show! Their grads showcased some serious talent. Let's hope we can get our hands on some of these designs in the near future! Keep your eyes peeled for their brands.

Thrifty Thursday
Firstly, I apologize for the lack of posts lately! I was moving this week (you'll notice the lovely garage backdrop to my Thrifting photos), and was also finally was able to catch up with friends I haven't had a chance to see in a long time. It's been go go go! I promise it will get better this week. I already have another post lined up on a local fashion show I attended today. So more to come!
For this Thrifty Thursday, I took one of my besties for a shopping trip to my favourite local thrift shop this week and introduced her to the wonderful world of thrifting! We both left very successful! I managed to find the great pieces below, and she found a cute slip, a lovely white summer dress, and a pair of black patent heels. Can't wait to start wearing my new purchases; the dress and heels are great basics, and the cherry tank top is just perfect for summer!

Thrifty Thursday
I'm back with some more thrifted finds today! I'm moving, and it'll be sad to not have my favourite thrift store right around the corner...but I'm hoping I'll find some great new ones this summer.
You may recognize one of this week’s pieces, which I actually wore to Fashion Week a few weeks ago. I’m planning to get a lot of use out of these two pieces over spring and summer! It’s time for whites and colours to take over my wardrobe once again.
First is the white cropped coat I wore to Fashion Week. Keep in mind if you find a jacket like this, you have to be careful what you wear it with if you’re going to wear it buttoned-up. It masks a defined waist, so I recommend wearing it open, so that your waist can still be seen, or wearing it with pants or shorts.
Store: Salvation Army
Store section: Blazers
Brand: Forever 21
Price I paid: $3.99
What it’s worth: ?
I'll have to save this one for next fall, but I just couldn't resist the polka dots and bow <3
Store: Salvation Army
Store section: Dresses
Brand: Korean label, unknown
Price I paid: $5.99
What it’s worth: approx. ?
This dress is one of my most prized thrift finds so far! It’s 100% silk, the colour is a super rich fuschia, and it’s worth quite a bit! It’s just a tad too big, but with a skinny belt, it’s almost impossible to tell.
Store: Salvation Army
Store section: Dresses
Brand: Amanda Uprichard
Price I paid: $7.99
What it’s worth: approx. $200

Studying In Style
Luckily, I haven’t had time to do any outfit posts during exams, so you haven’t seen what I wear when I’m not in fashion-mode. It’s not a very pretty sight. I do love my D&G black-framed glasses, but other than that I don’t feel very stylish when I’m studying or writing an exam. I know I’m not the only one. I see those other people going to class in sweats and a sweatshirt…and (god forbid) UGGS or Crocs, but I feel like there must be a better option! (I would like to point out I have 2 rules: no sweatpants outside the house, and no UGGS or Crocs in my wardrobe. Ever.) There must be some way to look good, while still being comfy enough to curl up in a ball and study for hours on end. I've changed my ways a bit this exam season and have been lounging around the house in maxi dresses and cardigans, after some inspiration from Ana of High Street Cardigans. It definitely makes you feel just a tad more luxurious while held up inside for day after day. So here’s some inspiration to get you dressing effortlessly chic during your exams this semester, or even if you’re just not feeling up to putting on anything mildly uncomfortable. Everybody has those days.
And if you haven't already, head over to StyleRecognized for their April gifting. It's still going, so if you're a blogger, you definitely need to get in on this! All the details are on their page. Who wouldn't want their dream item of the season to be gifted to them?? Best of luck to all of you who sign up!
Lastly, to those of you who are paying close attention, you'll see I didn't get a chance to post my Thrifty Thursday special this week. This is the odd week out, as I'm in the middle of exams right now, so it'll be back on it's usual date next week, I promise!
Now back to studying for me...that was enough procrastinating for today!
