This post came about after I found myself challenged to pair an outfit for exactly that: a business conference. To be exact, it was actually a university conference for students to connect with business professionals in the marketing industry.
I was invited as a 'business delegate' to engage with the students and help answer questions and offer insight about my experiences in the PR/marketing industry. While the students were at the conference all day for various talks and workshops, the business delegates were only required during the dinner and networking portion of the evening. I figured even though I would only be there for the evening event, it was best to err on the side of caution and still go with business attire, rather than more cocktail/business attire. In these situations, you can't go wrong with cautious! But my challenge was to somehow jazz my outfit up a bit.
I did want to change things up a bit, and not go with a boring old black suit with white blouse. After all, if you're networking, you want to be memorable! So while I stuck with my black BCBG dress pants (thrifted from Value Village), I switched out the usual white blouse for a structured tunic with front tie. And instead of a so-so black blazer, I instead subbed it out for this tuxedo-esque white and contrasting black lapel accent blazer.
Of course, the most important accessory here is the glasses. Even before I really needed glasses (at least not this much), I loved wearing them for school and work because I felt like they made me appear more focused and attentive. These new rose gold Kam Dhillon Park Avenue glasses from Clearly have just the right look - unique enough to make a statement (again, you want to be memorable), without being too over-the-top.
Really though, I guess your most important accessory is your business cards...

Hi there! I found your blog through a Google search for the Kam Dhillon glasses. Your photos have definitely helped convinced me to purchase them! I was wondering if you ordered them with any type of coating? The last pair I ordered from Clearly had the Kodak Blue coating and they show up tinted on camera. Thanks so much in advanced, your photos are great! :)
ReplyDeleteHi there, I'm so glad to hear you've fallen in love with Kam Dhillon glasses too! I've gotten a ridiculous amount of compliments on them! Because my prescription for these is for distance, I don't have the blue coating on these. I do have that ciatubg on the pair I'm wearing in this post though: http://www.vancouvervogue.com/2017/09/styling-tips-mixing-prints-this-fall.html and yes, you can see a little bit of the blue tint on camera. Hope that helps! :)
