Floral Symphony Soirée: Grandi's Atelier & Freywille

After so many seasons of attending Vancouver Fashion Week, it's been wonderful to see local talents such as Grandy produce such stunning collections season after season. I recently had the opportunity to see a collaboration between Grandi's Atelier and jewellery brand Freywille at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver; as always, Grandy's couture designs stunned, as did the timeless pieces of Freywille.

Grandi's Atelier has always embodied femininity, poise, and elegance; I admire the way Grandy's designs fit the models as if they were made just for them. One of my favourites from the runway, the black and white dress on the far right below, would be my dream choice for a summer black tie affair!

The Freywille jewellery is made of a precious fire enamel, an unrivalled manufacturing technique that takes a whopping 80 procedural steps to complete! Pieces from their Floral Symphony collection were styled with each of the outfits, which included necklaces, earrings and bracelets from several designs within the Floral Symphony collection. My personal favourite was the Bouquet of Dreams design (you'll see it below), which features a myriad of bright and soft colours, swirled together.

It was a wonderful evening, saluting summer, sipping cocktails, enjoying delicious food, admiring beautiful dresses and gazing at gorgeous jewellery!

Vancouver Fashion Week FW2015: Day 2

The first day of shows for the Fall/Winter 2015 season of Vancouver Fashion Week featured some of my favourite designers, so needless to say, I was pretty excited! All having walked the Vancouver runway before, Grandi's Atelier, Alex S. Yu, and Theresa Chen showcased truly fantastic collections.

I was in a wonderland of plaid when Grandi's collection hit the runway: a myriad of Scottish-inspired designs that were fitted to perfection (as Grandi's pieces always are). If you haven't read my Style Blindspot Series on Style By Fire yet, you'll understand why I am so enamoured by plaid once you do. Plaid, leather, and faux fur all complement each other so well, and for me personally, really embody fall/winter fashion.

I actually had the opportunity to meet Theresa Chen during the week, and I had such a fan girl moment! I've been watching Theresa's runway shows for years now, loving every single one of them, so it was such a delight to find out she's actually followed Vancouver Vogue since I first reviewed one of her collections! Wow. And of course, this collection did not disappoint. Her signature Parisian flair was ever so clear in each and every design. You'll see in the runway photo below one of her gorgeous capes in (of course) my favourite colour combination of red and black. Get in my closet now, please, pretty cape! <3

And finally, Alex S. Yu's collection was definitely one I was looking forward to on Day 1: at the end of every day of runway shows, it's always great to end of with something really fun! Alex Yu's collection was just that. Fun, flirty colours, prints, textures, and accessories (right down to the shoes!) make this collection a must-see. And while it might seem like the pieces are overwhelming at first, by picking out a shirt here or a skirt there, you could definitely weave these designs into your outfits and add some real flair to your style!

You can watch the video below to get a recap of my week at VFW:

As for my outfit? I thought it'd be fun to go full-out retro. I've been wanting to add more pastels to my spring wardrobe, so I picked up a few pieces from Forever 21 that I think will be great to mix and match during the season.

Vancouver Fashion Week FW 2015: Opening Gala

The most highly anticipated fashion event in Vancouver is back again for a 25th season! The opening gala of Vancouver Fashion Week is an opportunity to get a sneak peek at 1 look from each designer's collection: the energy under the tent is always the most intense on this first night, and you can't help but get wrapped up in it!

I was even more excited for the rest of the week after seeing the amazing designs from Kate's CoutureGrandi's AtelierNoe BernacelliNadia + Zehra hit the runway.

Such an event called for an extra special outfit, and this dress from Asos I just had to order. I really love how popular scuba material has become; it creates such awesome volume, and in this case it just makes the peplum even more dramatic!

This week during fashion week, I'm working on a video that will cover my experiences runway-side and backstage, rather than just shooting my usual blog images. I can't wait to share it with you!
