Pink Shirt Day: Stand up to Bullying in Style!

Once a year, kids and adults alike wear pink to say NO to bullying! Pink Shirt Day is February 22nd this year, and is a powerful campaign meant to show support for anti-bullying. I've participated in the campaign here on Vancouver Vogue for a few years now, and I think it's a very important cause to support, especially in this day and age with social media making bullying far too easy to perpetuate.

If you're not familiar with Pink Shirt Day, it was started in Nova Scotia by two grade 12 students who saw a grade 9 student being bullied for wearing pink. To show their support for the teen, they wore pink and encouraged their school to do the same. The story quickly spread across Canada, with thousands now wearing pink during the annual Pink Shirt Day event,

London Drugs, who has been a longtime supporter of Pink Shirt Day, is once again the exclusive retailer for the official Pink Shirt Day t-shirt, which I'm wearing in the photos below. This year's design features 'Make Nice': a message that's true and simple. The net proceeds of the shirts will support local Boys and Girls Clubs across British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan through the CKNW Orphans' Fund. The programs supported help kids build self-esteem and teach them empathy, compassion and kindness.

I hope you all join me in wearing pink on February 22nd to show you stand up to bullying! Pick up your official Pink Shirt Day t-shirt at London Drugs, and if you need some inspiration on how to style your official Pink Shirt Day shirt, take a peek through the photos below, or see my Pink Shirt Day outfits from 2016 and 2015. Don't forget to use the hashtags #pinkshirtday and #PSD2017 when sharing your outfit photos on Twitter and Instagram, and tag @LondonDrugs!

Pink Shirt Day 2016: Kindness is One Size Fits All!

Pink Shirt Day is Wednesday February 24th this year - will you stand up to bullying in style with us?

Pink Shirt Day was started by 2 teenage boys in Nova Scotia, who decided to wear pink to support a fellow student who was bullied for wearing pink. They rallied their high school to wear pink as well, in support of the student, and soon the message spread right across the country, with Canadians all standing up to bullying by wearing pink.

What has now become an annual event, Pink Shirt Day raises awareness against bullying, and this year, is spreading the message of Kindness is One Size Fits All! The Pink Shirt Day t-shirt I'm wearing below can be purchased exclusively at London Drugs stores, and the net proceeds go to the CKNW Orphans Fund in support of Boys and Girls Clubs anti-bullying programs.

This is the second year I've participated in  Pink Shirt Day; I had a blast last year styling this look, and was joined by a host of other fabulous ladies who also styled their own Pink Shirt Day t-shirts. This year, I was joined by the fashionable bloggers Leeanne of Legallee Blonde, Bree of The Urban Umbrella, and Elizabeth of The Style Saver - make sure to check to check out their blog as well to see them rocking their Pink Shirt Day t-shirts!

So I invite you all to style your own Pink Shirt Day t-shirts in support of anti-bullying, and show that kindness truly is one size fits all!

Wear your Pink Shirt Day t-shirt on February 24th and stop bullying in style. Tweet and Instagram your photos using the hashtag #pinkshirtday and don't forget to let your followers know they can get their own official PSD t-shirt exclusively @londondrugs!

Stop Bullying in Style: Pink Shirt Day 2015

Why so much pink this week, you ask? Pink Shirt Day is coming up February 25th, and I'm joining the cause along with other fashion bloggers to start a style revolution to stand up together against bullying!

Pink Shirt Day was started by 2 teenage boys from Nova Scotia, who sympathized with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied for wearing pink. They protested at their high school by having their fellow students wear pink, and the idea is now supported not only by schools across the country, but people of all ages.

Kids, teens, adults and fashionistas alike can purchase the official Pink Shirt Day t-shirts (like the one I'm wearing) in support of the national Pink Shirt Day campaign, and raise awareness against bullying. I hope you all join the cause and show your support by wearing your own official Pink Shirt Day t-shirt, which you can find exclusively at London Drugs. Net proceeds of the t-shirts go to the CKNW Orphan's Fund in support of Boys and Girls Clubs Anti-Bullying Programs!

You all know I'm a big fan of statement pieces, and I think this t-shirt definitely qualifies! I pulled out every accessory and pink item I had in my closet, right down to my pink bow shoe clips, and styled it all together to help make the t-shirt's message loud and clear: 'this pink shirt says ENOUGH!' And never forget that confidence is your best accessory!

Wear your Pink Shirt Day t-shirt on February 25th and stop bullying in style. Tweet and Instagram your photos using the hashtags #pinkshirtday #PSD2015 and don't forget to let your followers know they can get their own official PSD t-shirt exlusively @londondrugs!
