Avocado for Breakfast...and For Your Hair!

I've jumped on the avocado train like every other good Millennial. When I was a kid, I never liked it - or at least, never thought I would like it. Man, did I miss out! Now I eat avocado toast for breakfast most days, and eat guacamole like a fiend. When Garnier's new Fructis Hair Treats with Avocado Extract arrived in the mail, I was all over it! Woohoo, more avocado!!

The new Fructis Hair Treats are Garnier's first 98% naturally derived hair masks, that are enriched with super fruits (yum - they sure smell fruity!) and can be used 3 different ways, to smoothen, strengthen, repair, revive colour and nourish your hair:
  1. As a hair mask. After shampoo, apply to your wet hair and leave on for 1 minute. Then rinse.
  2. A a conditioner. After shampoo, apply to your hair from root to tip. Then rinse.
  3. As a leave-in. Apply to your damp hair to control frizz for super smooth hair!

I decided to use it as a leave-in conditioner, since I've never actually used one before. I've always figured they would make my super fine hair heavy and greasy. But I figured hey, let's give it a try! So I hopped in the shower, did my usual shampoo and then conditioner routine, then hopped out of the shower, towel dried my hair, and then applied the Hair Treats. I first applied to my fingers and then ran them through my hair.

Well, obviously the Hair Treats with Avocado gave me a craving for...you guessed it, avocado! So I whipped up some avocado toast to munch on while my hair partially air dried. Then I used my hair dryer to finish it off. My hair felt fantastic and smelled oh-so-good! Like waaay better than just after a regular shower. That was definitely one of the benefits of using the Hair Treats as a leave-in. And of course, the other benefit being that my hair was nice and smooth. As you may have noticed in my outfit photos lately, my hair has been way more frizzy than normal (thanks for nothing, winter). So I have a feeling I'm going to be turning to this as a daily solution!

Are you avocado obsessed too? You've go to give this a try!

Blond Me! TLC For My Blonde Hair

Full disclaimer: I'm a hair mask virgin. It's not that I never wanted to try them, the opportunity just never presented itself, and I never considered it necessary when buying my usual shampoo and conditioner. Clearly, I have been missing out. Or at least my hair has. Sorry hair...

GlamSense was kind enough to send over a package of Schwarzkopf's new Blond Me collection, including their Tone Enhancing Bonding Shampoo (for All Blondes) and Tone Enhancing Bonding Mask (for Warm Blondes) to try. I figured hey- here's the perfect time to give this hair mask thing a try! This particular collection is actually formulated for bottled blondes - so if you've just come from the salon with your new blonde 'do, it'll actually help to complete and maintain the in-salon blonde service. Their technology helps balance the pH level and helps to create new bonds and strengthen bonds within the hair fibres. Basically, if you want you blonde to last longer, this collection will be your new BFF. I'm a natural blonde, but the lower half of my hair is the leftovers of when I had my hair lightened a while back. Now it's turned into a nice sort of ombré blonde effect.

Keep reading below to see my full thoughts and application tips....

First of all, I started with the Blond Me Shampoo for All Blondes. I wet my hair and worked in the shampoo as I usually would, and then rinsed it out. I was skeptical at first that my kit didn't come with a conditioner, but after doing some research online, I saw that one of the benefits of this shampoo is that it cleanses and conditions in one step. I was pretty surprised - it totally did! My hair felt just as if I had conditioned as well. Needless to say, I was impressed.

Behind the scenes, this shampoo helps to create new bonds within the hair fibres, and reinforces weakened areas in the hair structure. It also helps to smooth and condition the porous areas of lightened hair. Buh-bye damaged hair, and hello bright blonde colour!

I towel-dried my hair and then dipped into the Blond Me Mask for Warm Blondes. It feels like a body butter in your hands, and I spread it evenly over my fingers before running them through my damp hair. I concentrated it on the ends of my hair especially, since that's where my hair needs more nourishment, plus that's where my hair is still coloured.

This mask is meant to repair the structure of fragile, lightened and coloured hair, creating new bonds within the hair fibres. It balances the optimum moisture level of porous, lightened hair, while smoothing the surface for the best blonde colouring.

I left the hair mask in for about 10 minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly. Then I re-applied the shampoo one more time to fully wash my hair. And oh-la-la my hair felt so soft!!

I let my hair partially air dry, and then blow dried the rest. Finally, I straightened it with my Remington T|Studio PROtect Flat Iron like I usually do. I noticed right away my hair seemed way shinier than usual, and much softer. Plus, it smelled great! All day, I couldn't stop catching a glimpse of my hair in the mirror, surprised how shiny and healthy it looked. My blonde was better. I can't speak as much about how it helps to keep my blonde hair colour, since mine isn't newly done, but I'll be using it to keep the colour I do have for hopefully longer. And would definitely use it if I decide to have my hair lightened again!

Did I mention my hair smells great?? Hair masks (especially this Blond Me one) are going to become a weekly addition to my hair routine!
