Drugstore Valentine's Day Beauty Look

Valentine's Day is just a couple weeks away, so I've got some V-Day beauty and fashion inspiration to share! Today, it's all about the beauty, and check back here on Monday for a Valentine's-inspired outfit.

Honestly, this really doesn't have to be a Valentine's-exclusive makeup look, but I do love amping up my makeup look for our Valentine's Day dates. I tend to do the same-old basic cat-eye everyday, so it's fun to get a bit more creative with a more sultry look.

I have some brand new makeup products from London Drugs, and have been looking for an excuse to play around with them, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to start playing around with them! For this Valentine's Day look, I used a couple of new products from Kiss New York Professional, which is an awesome drugstore brand you've got to check out. They're affordable, and the quality of the products is overall pretty great! I was really impressed with their eyeshadows, especially. I don't know why this Kiss Pro Hexa Eyeshadow Palette is called Pink Nude, because I think it actually has more of a red theme in the palette, but I thought it would be great to work with for Valentine's Day.

Keep on reading below to see how to re-create the look, and scroll all the way to the bottom for outfit details!

Eyeshadow:

For this sultry yet fiery eye look, I used 3 shades from the Kiss NY Pro Hexa Eyeshadow Palette in Pink Nude. First, I took the champagne nude shadow (second from the right) and applied all over my lids. Then taking the beautiful shimmery red shadow (third from the left), I applied it to my crease and underneath my eyes. Finally, to add some depth and shape my outer v, I used the deepest shade in the palette (first on the left).

Eyeliner:

Rimmel's Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Liner is my go-to (well, that or Maybelline's Waterproof Liquid Liner). Basically, a waterproof liquid liner is a must for me. I know it'll stay put through absolutely anything. Not super confident in your cat-eye skills? You can always use an e.l.f. Makeup Remover Pen to straighten out your lines. It's my secret weapon for a super sharp cat-eye.

Because this is a more dramatic look than my everyday, I decided to extend my cat-eye wings longer than I usually do.

Mascara:

I figured for this look, I also wanted maximum lash volume. You could also go with false lashes, but I'm usually pretty low maintenance and they're not my first choice. I've been dying to try out Lancome's newest mascara, the Monsieur Big. I'd heard great things above the volume it gives, and it sure didn't disappoint. I have to be careful not to let it get to clumpy - I usually twirl the brush on the top of my lashes as well as applying on the underside of my lashes, but I have to be careful doing that with this mascara for fear of too much clumping. But...if I stick to applying a little lighter than I usually do, it gives really nice volume without clumping.

Highlight:

I'm not shy with highlighter, that's for sure. Using the Kiss NY Pro Halo Strobing Palette in Medium, I used the highlighter on the far left to dust along the tops of my cheekbones. I was really impressed with the glow! I'm surprised this palette worked so well, considering it's the Medium palette, not Light, but I actually really liked that light shade. It's more of a warm highlight, but if you wanted a cooler highlight, you could go with the Halo Strobing Palette in Light

Lipstick:

You know I love a good matte liquid lipstick. And my favourite shade is always red. This Kiss NY Pro Celeste Matte Liquid Lipstick in Candy Apple is such a perfect shade for Valentine's Day!
