Vancouver Fashion Week: Beauty Preview with Covergirl, Pantene & Olay

Vancouver Fashion Week kicked off last week with a special Beauty Preview for media, hosted by P&G's beauty brands Covergirl, Pantene & Olay. SALT Tasting room made for the perfect space to host the beauty chat, complete with tasty snacks and drinks. P&G Communications Manager Manon Lapierre happily introduced to the talents that would be the backstage beauty pros at Vancouver Fashion Week, Amélie DuCharme and Justin German. Amélie and Justin gave us the run-down on the trends we can expect to see for Spring/Summer 2015.

Not surprising, pastel pinks will be a big part of makeup looks for SS2015, but we can also expect to see eyes with a purple haze as well. Ducharme recommends using Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadows for a soft, pastel effect. For lips, her go-to is Covergirl Lip Perfection lipsticks, which just happen to be my favourite too! I've been in love with Euphoria and Divine since last season, so I'm looking forward to giving their lighter shades a try for spring. They really are long lasting, which is always one of my main criteria!

I was more than excited to hear that the 'silver screen' look, featuring old-school glamour waves will be back in full force for spring/summer 2015. And for the more everyday hairstyle, German showed us some loose braids with a slightly 'undone' look that are easy enough to recreate. One of the most interesting new trends? Mousse is back! The previously 90's trend is the perfect tool for adding some sheen to your look, especially if you want to give the appearance of wet, sleek hair. Pantene's Pro-V Stylers Mousse is the one item you should be adding to your hair routine for spring!

You can find all the products used to create the looks on the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week last week at London Drugs!

Vancouver Fashion Week FW2014: Day 2

Day 2, and my final recap of Vancouver Fashion Week this season, brought an amazing array of talented designs from the likes of LaSalle College, Na Hyun Lee, Connally McDougall, Maella Fashion Boutique, Grandi's Atelier, and Evan Clayton. To start, Na Hyun Lee's bright neon pieces with flouncy hemlines had me wanting a whole new wardrobe; the bright blue box-pleat skirt is the perfect addition to a bold, flirty look. I also loved the sassy yet classic taste of Connally McDougall's collection, right down to the cute complementing glasses! And on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, Evan Clayton's collection Jenova was feminine, but had a dark seductiveness to it. Congrats to Evan on not only being featured in Vogue UK, but also winning the opportunity to show at Vienna Fashion Week in September!

I stepped backstage with London Drugs to check out the trendy super-high hair do's being prepared for the Grandi's Atelier show. Vancouver Fashion Week Beauty Director Chris Funk walked us through how to create a voluminous french twist with Pantene products, so you can try it at home too!

Vancouver Fashion Week F/W 2014: Day 1

I was more excited than ever for the shows this season after seeing the Vancouver Fashion Week Opening Gala's sneak peek, and Day 1 did not disappoint! The designs of Green Embassy, Nina Tan, Pitour, Shelley Klassen, and Gabriel Lage were highlights of the night, but all were incredibly diverse and and a feast for the eyes. Gabriel Lage's collection of awe-inspiring beaded gowns was a truly beautiful way to end the evening, leaving us all to dream of wearing something so breathtakingly elegant one day. I'd say Gatsby-esque beading is still all the rage for the coming season (yes!).

I also went backstage with London Drugs Cosmetics before the shows to get the scoop on the latest hair and beauty trends, straight from Beauty Director Yasmin Morshedian. Heads up, smokey eyes and red vampire lips are big trends to watch for, as well as graphic liner (which is my go-to on a daily basis). Check out our Day 1 of Vancouver Fashion Week which includes a backstage make-up how-to on the models of Nina Tan Design:
