A Lipstick Lovers BFF: the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Vault

If you have an obsession with lipstick, consider yourself warned, this post is going to make you want 36 more!

I have always been a HUGE fan of NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams, and I tell pretty much anyone who will listen how great they are. So I was over the moon to get this NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Vault for Christmas!! Well, full disclosure, I bought it myself and had my brother give it to me for Christmas, but hey, that made it guilt-free shopping!

While they are in mini-size, it's the perfect set to test and try all these amazing shades and decide which ones are truly your favourite. There were quite a few Soft Matte Lip Cream shades that I had been dying to try, but didn't want to splurge on a bunch individually, so this is perfect! The last couple of weeks since Christmas, I've been testing out a different colour here and there, to see which shades were the best on me.

I first tried Prague, which I had been dying to try for months now, and let me tell you, this colour does not disappoint. It's the perfect berry shade, something I've been searching the beauty aisles for quite a while for. I think this is officially my favourite shade out of the whole Vault! Runner up has to be Cannes, which is a nice every day neutral shade with a tinge of pink. It's a "your lips but better" kind of shade, in my opinion. Especially if you're on the pale side. Other favourites not shown here were Transylvania (super dark and gorgeous), and London (an excellent nude shade). I like that they included some intense colours like Moscow (a very dark blue), Havana (a bright purple), and Morocco (orange) for those times you feel like taking a beauty risk!

If the range of colours wasn't enough, the formulas of these are great, if you haven't tried their Soft Matte Lip Creams before. They're a long-lasting matte lipstick that smells great and doesn't dry out my lips too bad. Sadly, when I took these photos, my lips were super dry even without lipstick (ahhh winter...), but usually my lips feel great with these Lip Creams on.

Want to give them a try? I picked up mine at London Drugs, although I don't see them available online anymore. You can also find them on NYX Cosmetics' website, or you can find the full-size NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams at any London Drugs store!

Covergirl's Katy Kat Matte Lipstick Review: My Favourite New Matte Lipstick

This girl loves a good matte lipstick. I know not everyone is on the same page as me, though. A lot of people hate the dryness that usually comes along with matte lipsticks, and I don't blame them! So when I heard Covergirl had partnered with Katy Perry to create Katy Kat Matte, a collection of highly pigmented and moisturizing demi-matte lipsticks, I thought "I need to give these a try"! Maybe they'll be the perfect solution for those who don't like the dryness of regular matte lipsticks.

I think they really nailed it on this formula. I tried the shades Coral Cat and Magenta Minx, and they have a slightly less mattifying texture when compared to my other matte lipsticks, which means my lips were left far more moisturized than usual. I was relieved that the matte texture wasn't abandoned completely though. They are still far more matte than any of my satin lipsticks.

While there are also some more crazy colours in the collection, like Perry Panther (black) and Cosmo Kitty (purple), I am totally in love with Coral Kat and Magenta Minx. They're the perfect pink and orange shades to go with my summer outfits. You know I'm all about bright pops of colour this time of year!

What do you think? Would these make you want to give matte lipsticks a try? You can find them at drugstores in North America, including London Drugs!

Beauty Haul Video: e.l.f. Cosmetics

Many of you know that I've become quite a beauty buff over the last year (don't worry though, my outfit posts aren't going away!). So I was insanely excited when I found out that London Drugs would be carrying e.l.f. Cosmetics products in their stores now!

This is a big cult favourite in the beauty community for 2 obvious reasons:

         1) most of their products retail for an awesomely low $3.99
         2) they have these random cool products like lip exfoliators and eyeliner sealers that you can't help but want to try out!

I had the chance to do a beauty haul video with London Drugs Cosmetics to take some of the e.l.f. Cosmetics products for a spin, so check out the video below and find out what my first impressions were!

Blogger Lunch: Urban Tea Merchant

If there's one not-so-guilty pleasure I have, it's high tea. I'm always on the lookout for a new place to try, so naturally I was all in when these lovely ladies wanted to try out the Flamingo Tea Service at Urban Tea Merchant! Bloggers Jayne of Cosmetic Proof, Whitney of Macarons and Mischief, and Bailey of AKA Bailey were fabulous company for an afternoon of signature cocktails, divine tea, and delectable treats à la Urban Tea Merchant. I absolutely loved that their cosmopolitan cocktail and sweets were infused with their pink flamingo tea! If you're looking for a real gourmet high tea selection, I highly recommend checking it out.

So what does one wear for such a fashionable occasion? Why, lots of colour of course, and a big statement necklace to match! I came across the bejewelled piece you see below while at the Richmond Night Market a few weeks ago: I was literally jumping up and down with delight trying to decide which necklace to pick! If you haven't checked out Nobis and Grey's jewelry booth at the night market, make sure it's on your must-see list the next time you're there. I'm already eyeing this gorgeous piece...
