Thrifty Thursday

Happy Thrifty Thursday! I am still on my shirt hunt right now, so I was happy to find two new ones to add to my wardrobe, and you know I'm always a sucker for bows and ruffles. I've also managed to rip a pair of my favourite comfy jeans, so I was very excited to come across a perfect (cheap!) replacement for them the last time I was in the thrift shop.

For those of you who are searching for that perfect pair of jeans, thrift shops always have a very large selection of jeans of all shapes and sizes. These unworn Zara jeans have the perfect amount of stretch and are the quintessential skinny cut. A tip for thrifting for jeans: take a careful look over them before you buy them! I may have neglected to check these over and didn't notice the tear along the back seam. Oops! Needless to say, the rip kind of expanded the first time I wore them. And that is why I have a sewing machine! I managed to pull apart the seam and sew them back together with the rip hidden. I still love these jeans, but I could have saved myself a scare if I had checked them over first!

You can just baaaarely see the rip along the back seam at the very bottom. Funny thing is I didn't even notice it while taking these photos!

Store: Salvation Army
Brand: Zara Basic Dept. Denim
Section: Jeans
What I Paid: $8.99
What it's Worth: $79.90

You know I can't resist bows. I was drawn to the contrasting black scalloped neckline; it has a very cutesy and classic vibe that I can see wearing with black tights and black ballet flats.

Store: Salvation Army
Brand: H&M
Section: Short sleeve Knits
What I Paid: $5.99
What it's Worth: ?

Ruffles always stand out to me on a clothing rack, and these ones have slightly faded stripes that feel just a tad vintage.

I hope I'm getting you all inspired to do your own treasure hunting!

Happy Styling! xo

  1. I had that exact H&M top! It was so cute but it shrunk in the wash so I sold on eBay after, haha.

  3. Your thrift finds never cease to amaze me, Britta - I actually remember looking at that H&M bow detail sweater many, many times when it was in the store, but I always hesitated as I think it was priced around $30 which is a lot for H&M. You got it at exactly the right price and I know it's going to fit into your wardrobe perfectly :)
