The Best Primer & Foundation for Pale Skin

My journey to find the perfect primer and foundation has not been easy, nor short. It's pretty much taken me 14 years and a whole lot of hit and miss. But I think I can finally say I've found the right match! And if you're a shade of ghostly pale like I am, maybe you'll find this info helpful too.

First up is the new Origins Original Skin Pore Perfecting Cooling Primer. This stuff really is like no other primer I've ever used. It comes in a unique form, as far as primers go. Instead of a regular pump, this formula is actually aerosol. What comes out, is a frothy sort of mousse...with a nice cool feeling! There's also a very slight tint to the mousse, which I'll admit did have me a bit worried at first. Tinted skincare doesn't usually go over well with pale skin.

As you apply the primer to your face, you can hear the small fizzling sounds of the mousse, and you can actually feel the coolness as it's applied over the skin! I can imagine this primer will be even more useful during the summer months when any extra bit of cooling is appreciated. What really surprised me though, was that the 'tintedness' of the primer wasn't an issue at all! It actually had just the right amount of sheerness to smooth over redness, without looking orange. Talk about perfect. The formula also beautifully smoothed over my blackheads and pores, making them noticeably less visible.

Now onto foundation. I finally found a (very pricey) perfect match. Until recently, I had been wearing Kat Von D's Lock-It Foundation in _________, and while I thought it was a good match (and had a couple of Sephora staff Color IQ match me to it), I realized on camera that it just wasn't quite right. It was still coming off a bit too dark. So I went straight to YouTube like any good beauty junkie, and ended up taking a recommendation from Arna Alayne. She swatched the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation in Ivoire 090 N and it looked promising. So I popped over to Sephora and checked it out. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't loving the $60 price tag, but when you're this desperate, you'll pretty much pay anything for the right foundation shade.

Thank god, it ended up being an absolute perfect match!! Absolutely no orange tinge, and the coverage was good. This is seriously the lightest foundation shade I've had the pleasure of trying and I'm oh-so-happy with it. My only issue at first, was I wasn't loving how it mixed with my previous silicon-like primer. But once I switched to my Origins Original Skin Primer, it was aaaaall good! A little added bonus? The SPF 15. It's not much, but I always appreciate a bit of SPF in my skincare if I can get it (for obvious reasons...).

 Happy Styling! xo
