How to Wear a Pyjama Shirt Outside the House

A major fashion faux pas for me (I don't have many) is wearing pyjamas in public. It's not as much of a pet peeve as it is for one of my besties, but it still does rub me the wrong way. I know how comfy PJ's are, but it's really not that hard to slip out of them and into something at least somewhat presentable before leaving the house, is it?? It doesn't have to be jeans - it could just be sweatpants. Just not pyjamas. And certainly not with slippers (I have seen that far too many times in public). BUT...one trend that's taken over in the last while is the pyjama top, and yes I'm actually OK with wearing it in public.

One of the reasons why I think I can get on board with this trend is because these pyjama-style tops are actually made with daytime appropriate fabrics. Some aren't, but many are - like the one you'll see me wearing below. This way, they can bridge the gap better between pyjama top and blouse.

I wanted to take this style one step further, and not just wear the pyjama shirt in public, but make it office appropriate! These gorgeous Kam Dhillon rose gold glasses just arrived in the mail from Clearly, and they are the perfect way to give any outfit an office-chic look. This is the first pair of metal glasses I've ever owned (I usually go for the thicker frames), and I instantly fell in love. I have had so many compliments on them so far! The design is so unique - and would you believe they're only $95?? Just add a classy pair of stilettos, and some drawstring trousers, and you're set to go!

Would you try the pyjama top trend?

Styling Tips: Mixing Prints This Fall

As soon as the leaves begin to turn, the first print to emerge eagerly from my wardrobe is lots and lots of plaid! To get a bit more adventurous today though, I've added two my prints to this fall look: tortoise and leopard. Browns, reds and blues go nicely together, so while it may seem a bit ambitious to wear 3 prints at once, it's really just about matching the colours of the prints with each other.

I built the outfit around this sweet SheIn Belted Checkered Shell Top. I was surprised that the belted bow actually is separate from the top - and it takes a bit of fiddling to get it just right - but once it's on, I love how it looks! Plus, since it's separate, you could totally also use it as a hair bandana, or as a belt on any other shirt. Pretty versatile, and did I mention it's only $16??

As for accessorizing, that's where you can start to have fun with some more prints! My leopard heels are a favourite for fall, and I wear my tortoise glasses from Clearly (similar ones here) all the time at work. If you're in need of a new pair of glasses, theirs are super affordable. The yellow/browns in these glasses and the high heels both match quite well, while also complimenting the blue and red in the top. You could also opt for a leopard belt or clutch - but maybe stick to just two other printed items max. I'm a gold accessories girl, so I've also added a gold bangle and earrings from Nobis & Grey to tie everything together. And that's it!

What's your favourite print to wear this time of year?

Preppy London Style with Clearly

What better place to break out the preppy style than London, England! One of my favourite parts of fall and winter is getting to layer up my look with preppy shirts over sweaters, and shades of wine paired with camel and cognac. Plus, I've always felt that trench coats are a great preppy add-on, and they're an essential part of any London-inspired outfit!

I picked up my coveted copy of the newest Harry Potter book (or script, rather) while at Shakespeare and Company in Paris earlier on my trip. I took to reading it on the go, to pass the time when on our train and bus rides. I brought along my trusty new Clearly glasses from the brand Love, which I've been using when I'm in front of the computer or reading. They have a special Blue Reflect coating so that UV light can't pass through the lenses, helping my eyes to relax more while on my laptop!

Anyway, I picked out this Love L770 tortoise design from Clearly's collection because I knew it would go great with all my fall-coloured outfits, and they totally fit my preppy style! It looks like they're sold out of my particular style right now, but if you're looking for a pair that's similar to mine, you can check out these Love glasses in Love 771 Tokyo Tortoise (the same pattern as mine). I had a super tough time choosing between the tortoise glasses and these deep red Eva glasses from Kam Dhillon. They're such a unique red colour, and looked very flattering. They were a very close second!

You know I'm always looking for a style steal too, so of course these glasses are super reasonable at around $70 (including Standard Air Lenses, plus free shipping and returns (yippee!). You can browse Clearly's Love glasses online here. With glasses this affordable, you know I'm going to want like 10 pairs in every style imaginable! Glasses are definitely one of my favourite accessories.
