Vancouver Fashion Week FW 2013: Day 2

Day 2 at Vancouver Fashion Week brought more avant-garde designs to the runway today, which featured the talent of many LaSalle College fashion students, as well as Vivid Haiku & MaLina Kay Summer Boots, Evan Clayton, Trish Petrovich, Melissa Kicks, Gita Omri, Elik + Afsi, Lauren Rebecca, and Dandilion Wind Opaine. With so many runway looks, I had to pick only my favourites of the night to share with you here.

For today's look, I chose to go back to my favourite red, white and black and create an edgy Parisian look. I even tried doing a french twist with my hair: something I've never done before. You can find the tutorial here if you're interested- it's really quite easy. Most of my look from today was thrifted, but I haven't had a chance to share many of them with you on my Thrifty Thursday post yet, so stay tuned next week for the details!

I was excited to see Evan Clayton's collection hit the runway, as he will be showing his designs at a fundraiser I am co-hosting next week. The entire room was just blown away by his designs, and it made me even more proud to share the collection to another audience. The interesting thing about this collection was the sheer difference between his pieces; during the course of the show, the designs went from classic to extremely avant-garde. Probably the most awe-inspiring moment was when two of the models, in black and red chiffon with leather bodices walked down the runway with blood dripping from their mouths. The second half of the show evoked a kind of apocalyptic feel that had many giving Evan a standing ovation.

Jacket-thrifted, Shirt-H&M Divided(thrifted), Skirt-After Five(thrifted), Heels-Aldo(thrifted, DIY), Beret-my Nana's, Necklace-H&M, Earrings-H&M, Sunglasses-H&M

Jesper Annerstedt:
His designers were inspired by Tron- the movie's soundtrack boomed in the background, it was an amazing show to watch!

These stood out right away to me. How incredibly unique! If the design wasn't enough, those spikes add some killer style.

Myself with Sonia of IStylebySonia. I loved her statement necklace! On the black top it stands out so well and makes her look fashionably polished.

Lauren Rebecca:

Myself with the always stylish Vancouver blogger Ivy. I loved her netting headpiece- such a delicate yet edgy touch to her outfit.

See you on the runway, Vancouver!

Happy Styling! xo
