What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

If you're reading this from the US, you're probably wondering: what the heck? A little early for Thanksgiving posts! But hey we do things a little different up here in Canada, and our Thanksgiving is actually this upcoming weekend!

I love the Thanksgiving long weekend, because it's always the first weekend of the season that really feels like fall. The air has just started to get chilly, the bright coloured leaves have begun to fall, and I just want to wrap myself up in something cozy. Oh right, and who doesn't love a big Thanksgiving feast with your family and friends, complete with turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie - and even some pumpkin beer! We also have a local Cranberry Festival in Fort Langley that is super cute and gets you fully in the mood for fall.

We're celebrating with both a family and a friend Thanksgiving this year, and so I did some thinking on what I would want to wear to them. The lovely local brand Street and Saddle was kind enough to gift me one of their gorgeous Runaway Skirts when I did an equestrian style feature with them for Style.ca last month, and I've been dying to wear it to something. I usually think linen makes for good summer clothes, but this handmade linen skirt actually looks great styled for fall. By the way: did I mention it has pockets?? The best feature a skirt can have.

I cozy-ed it up here with some thigh high socks and my big plaid blanket scarf (from DDBooski Clothing Co. in Fort Langley). I don't usually wrap my blanket scarves like this, but let's chalk it up to watching too much Outlander on TV. Now, Street and Saddle is inspired by equestrian style, so I thought it would also be fitting to wear the Runaway Skirt with a pair of equestrian-style booties. After all, I always love wearing equestrian-inspired outfits in the fall. I thrifted these Tommy Hilfiger boots from Salvation Army a long time back, and I love the equestrian-style straps on the sides. I've linked up some similar pairs at the bottom of this post.

What are your plans for Thanksgiving?
